200 CYCLISTS WOW THOUSANDS AT THE PARVIEW CYCLING FESTIVAL.
Fort Wayne, Indiana, July 11, 2009 - Morning
thunderstorms did not deter 200 cyclists from racing
in the first-ever Parkview Cycling Festival,
presented by Men of Steel Racing.  When the rain
rolled out, the junior racers rolled in to kick off the
first of seven races at 1pm.  Luke Weber of Colavita
on the local news.

Team tactics were in play throughout the day on a
very fast and technical course.  Two riders from
Sustainable Cycling placed first and third in the Fort
Wayne Outfitters Cat 3/4 Race.  Cody Hardley won,
while teammate Eric Johnson came in third.  Dustin
Jones of Indiebike.com placed second.

The Summit City Bicycles Cat 4/5 Race was the
largest field of the day.  Adam Mercer of the Phi
Kappa Psi Cycling Team placed first, Robert
Sherman of Team Dayton Bicycling came in second,
and Richard Stuart took third place.

In the Don Hall's Masters Race, hometown racer
Gary Painter of Team Koehlinger/Kelley outsprinted
Patrick Weddell of Globalbike p/b Catoma to win the
race.  Court Maple of MOB Squad/U Build It came in
third.

The Men of Steel Racing Challenge was quite a
sight!  The fans loved the retro look and feel.  Todd
Anderson, riding for Men of Steel Racing, won the
field on an ultra rare Eddy Merckx Team 7 Eleven
addition bike, fully kitted with Campy Delta.  It was
probably too nice to ride but these are the type of
machines that we hope will continue to compete in
the Men of Steel Races.  Other rare bikes included
Gios Torino, a Gios Evolution and a one-of-a-kind
custom Zotz equipped with Dura Ace AX. Matthew
Light of Alderfer Bergen came in second and Doug
Winton of Team Koehlinger/Kelley grabbed the third
spot on the podium.

Alderfer Bergen dominated the last two races of the
day.  The team had five ladies in the Woodhouse
Day Spa Women's Race.  They rode a very tactful
race and ended the day with three of the four top
spots.  Katharina Weber and Louise Turner placed
second and third, respectively.  Team Kenda's
Christy Keely grabbed the top spot on the podium.

The day ended with the Tincaps Pro 1/2/3 Race at
8pm.  Parkview Hospital COO Sue Ehinger stood
next to Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry, as he read a
proclamation in front of the racers making July
10-11 Parkview Cycling Festival Day.  Mayor Henry
thanked the cyclists and the long-awaited race was
off -- and on time!  Two riders from Alderfer Bergen
grabbed the first and third spots on the podium.
Mike Sherer won the race under the lights, while
teammate Isaac Neff came in third.  Erik Hamilton of
NUVO Cultural Trail finished second.

It was an incredible day of racing in downtown Fort
Wayne.  Numerous emails are coming in from racers
talking about the great course and facilty and
promised to return next year with more members of
their team!
